World prepares to farewell Queen Elizabeth II; Joe Biden pays his respects’ World leaders hosted by King Charles III; Prince Andrew’s tribute to ‘Mummy, Mother, Your Majesty’

People across the UK will pause for a nationwide minute of silence in about 40 minutes’ time.

The country will fall quiet at 8pm (5am AEST), shortly after a tribute to the Queen from Camilla, the Queen Consort, airs on the BBC.

The public has been invited to stop and reflect on the Queen’s service in a “shared national moment of reflection”.

“At 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the state funeral, there will be a one-minute silence where the public are invited to come together and observe a national moment of reflection to mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II,” a spokesperson for Prime Minister Liz Truss said in announcing the occasion last week.
