Shruti Haasan’s mother, Kamal Haasan’s ex-wife Sarika Thakur has spoken about her struggles with money during the pandemic-induced lockdown. The Parzania actress even opened up about why she took a 5-year sabbatical from mainstream film and headed into acting.
According to News18’s report, in a recent interview, the veteran entertainer said she’s been taking a break from movies as big roles are drying up and she isn’t getting meatier roles to play. For the uninitiated, Sarika was last seen in Siddharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif’s romantic misfire Baar Baar Dekho. Sarika further added that the lack of good roles encouraged her to do acting, but she realized that acting cannot be a sole source for her survival. Thus, Sarika decided to return to commercial cinema.

Sarika revealed that she only earns Rs 3000 or less per show, which she says is insufficient for her. The actress further added that she was tired of her routine and decided to take a year off to pursue something different.
The actress even spoke candidly about running out of money during the lockdown, and the money she earned from acting wasn’t enough. Recalling her theater experience, Sarika added, “It was a very conscious decision, but I thought it would be for a year, but it turned out to be five years. Those five years have been great.”
Work-wise, Sarika will next be seen in the Modern Love Mumbai web series along with Arshad Warsi, Chitrangda Singh and Sana Fatima Sheikh.
