Mr Perrottet has given a strong indication he would favour continuing to accept tourists who have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, ahead of an ATAGI decision that could change the national definition of “fully vaccinated”.

“Different countries have different rules and procedures in place,” he said.

He pledged to work with the Commonwealth government and to take any ATAGI advice into account.

“We cannot live here in a hermit kingdom on the other side of the world,” he said.

However, a final decision from the premier will only be forthcoming after the ATAGI advice is delivered.
