Jessica Rowe channels Tom Cruise in Risky Business as she dances around her house cleaning


Jessica Rowe returned to the 1980s on Sunday.

The TV host was cleaning her floors at home when she decided to recreate the iconic ‘socks and shirt’ dance from the 1983 film Risky Business.

In the film, Tom Cruise plays Joel Goodsen, a teenager from a wealthy family who is on his own while his parents are away.

Enjoying his freedom, he dances around the house to Old Time Rock & Roll by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, wearing just a shirt, white underwear and socks.

The scene is one of the most iconic in Hollywood movie history and starred Tom Cruise.

In a video shared on Instagram, Jessica copied Tom’s movements, slipping into the frame of his socks, wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and an oversized white shirt.

The author then twirled and danced around the room to the beat of the music as Old Time Rock & Roll played.

“Mopping the floor ain’t a risky business for that housewife shit,” she wrote in her caption.

Tom previously revealed he ‘adlibated’ his now famous slippery dance, confessing he only decided to wear socks because the floor was ‘too sticky’.

‘I tried to cross [the floor] at one point and it was too sticky. What I did was I dusted the floor and then put on pantyhose [tape] on the other side so I get the middle frame and wear the socks,’ he told The Project in 2017.

“And that’s how I finally did it – to figure out how to get that smooth, just-on-rhythm beat that got me there.”

Tom started doing the rest of the dancing on the fly, drawing inspiration from his childhood.

“And then I walked around the room and danced,” he said. “It’s something I used to do as a kid at home.”
