Gemma Collins landed a lead role in Chicago The Musical.
The reality star, 41, is set to play Mama Morton on the UK and Ireland production tour, reprising the role from singer Sinitta.
Gemma has a long-standing passion for the arts, having studied dance and earned a place at the renowned Sylvia Young Theater School.

British theater producer David Ian said: “We were completely blown away by Gemma’s audition. She’s an undeniable force on and off stage, and we can’t wait to see her portrayal of Mama Morton on tour.

Gemma will be joined in the production by former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes, who will take on the lead role from Roxie Hart. Djalenga Scott portrays Velma Kelly, Jamie Baughan portrays Amos Hart and BE Wong portrays Mary Sunshine. Billy Flynn’s role has yet to be announced.
Gemma will join the tour at Sunderland Empire from Tuesday May 31, before playing Cardiff New Theatre, Blackpool Winter Gardens, Sheffield Lyceum, Norwich Theater Royal and New Theater Oxford.

Chicago follows the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two murderers who find themselves together in prison awaiting trial in 1920s Chicago.
The role of Mama Morton, the corrupt but nurturing matron of the Cook County Jail, was made famous by Queen Latifah in the 2002 film adaptation of the musical.
Gemma has already flaunted her singing talents after landing a record deal with Universal in August 2020, eight months after wowing Spice Girls’ Geri Horner with her performance on TSWT All Together Now.

In November she sang in support of Sophie-Ellis Bextor’s Kitchen Disco Danceathon in aid of Children In Need, while she also performed with pianist Peter J. Adamson at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
She had planned to work with Naughty Boy but the musician ended the project in 2020, saying he had other “priorities” but wished her “all the best”.
In 2019, Gemma said she took singing lessons whenever she could fit them in, including in her car, before releasing the “summer banger.”
