Pulford said the shock closure of a private school north of Melbourne was a “very distressing” time for affected students and parents.

Parents were told at a meeting on Wednesday night that the Colmont School in Kilmore would no longer be operating for its students in Year 3 to Year 10 from today.

The families were told the school had gone into administration, and that administrators would try to keep it open for Year 11 and 12 students for as long as possible.

“It is a very distressing time for those children and their families,” Pulford said.

She said education officials were working with the affected students and parents to find alternative schooling.
