Chinese-British dual national extradited from Thailand to Australia over alleged drug trafficking

The Australian Federal Police says the 66-year-old man is suspected of being the senior criminal associate of a leader of a major crime syndicate.

He was allegedly in charge of a plan to transport large amounts of methamphetamine, up to 40kgs, over a 12-month period in 2012.

The man was arrested in his Bangkok apartment on October 1, 2020 by the Royal Thai Police and was extradited to Melbourne on Saturday.

He appeared before Melbourne’s Magistrates’ Court yesterday to face a charge of conspiracy to traffic a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
