Charlie’s Angels actress Cheryl Ladd opens up about sexual harassment in the 1970s

Cheryl Ladd didn’t have it easy when she started her acting career.

The 70-year-old Charlie’s Angels veteran told PageSix she was sexually harassed and asked for favors after moving to Los Angeles from her native South Dakota in the 1970s.

“I was around 19 and I was chased around a desk,” the actress told the site. “I literally ran around the office and out the door.”

But the men never got very far as she says she ‘created a vibe’ that she was not someone to ‘fuss with’, adding. She added, “So don’t bother.”

Her career started in the early 1970s when she landed leading roles in TV shows such as The Partridge Family and Happy Days.

She remained under the radar until she was cast in 1977 as Farrah Fawcett’s little sister, Kris Munroe, for the second season of the private detective series Charlie’s Angels.

She joined Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson.

Farrah – who was Farrah Fawcett-Majors while married to Six Million Dollar Man star Lee Majors – had left the hit show to pursue a film career, but she often played leading roles where she appeared in the sides of Ladd.

Ladd was on the show until it ended in 1981.

Other stars who played for the Angels after Jackson’s departure. were Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts. David Doyle was on the show the entire run as Bosley.

Ladd said starring in Charlie’s Angels was a The blonde beauty called it “rocket time.”

But the sudden fame was “in a way, the best of times and the worst of times”.

She explained that it was a lot of work. ‘People forget when you were doing a show like Charlie’s Angels there were 29 episodes [a season],’ she explained. “And not to mention all the wardrobe fittings and all the interviews, we just worked to the bone.”

And she was a new mom at the time.

She continued, “I had a two-year-old daughter when I started Charlie’s Angels. It was really, really difficult on so many levels. During the show, I got divorced [from first husband David Ladd]. So, yes, a lot happened at that time.

Now she stars as a country singer in A Cowgirl’s Song.

“It’s so warm and fun and great music. It was all around just a hoot [to film]. And I loved playing that grandma,’ she told Page Six.

“I mean, when I’m performing, I’m someone else. When I’m in a room, I’m myself. And you know, take it or leave it!
